Work has begun along the Rambla del Espinar to eliminate vegetation and any rubbish; a task that is carried out each year.
The First Councillor for the La Herradura, Juan José Ruiz Joya, explained, “this year, following the spring rains, this water channel, which passes through the village, is particularly full of weeds so the sooner we clear it all out then the less chance there will be that it catches light when it dries out this summer.”
He said that they have hired a private company, Bermúdez, which has the right machinery for the task, to carry it out. The work will last most of this week.
In the meantime the municipal maintenance department have repainted public spaces where the calima has stained walls, etc. He explained that the central areas of the village were repainted just before Easter and that now it was the turn for the rest of the urban area. This work, he said, could take weeks.
