In the recent Plenary Meeting of the Motril Town Council two motions put forward by the PSOE were approved, one concerning the Cardiology Department at Santa Ana.
The problem is that come April, Hospital Santa Ana, which serves not only the Costa Tropical but also the Alpujarra, might lose its resident cardiologists
The motion received unanimous backing so the ball is in the court of the Junta de Andalucía which provides the regional, public-health service (SAS).
Previously, there were four specialists in that field whereas at the moment there are only two, and when April comes, there won’t be any.
The Spokeswoman for the Socialists (PSOE) said that SAS must cover this shortage and “if they have to offer incentives to attract specialist doctors, then they’re just going to have to do so.”
The other motion put forward by the PSOE and approved was for the paving along Calle Quijote and Calle Fierabrás in the Barrio de La Fabriquilla to be renovated. The proposal was backed by around 100 signatures from residents in that area of Motril.
