The Sierra Nevada is looking a bit more like what its name implies, thanks to the recent rains, which promise to continue.
Around 15 centimetres of snow fell up there Thursday Night/Friday morning, covering kilometres of ski slopes and mountainside in general.
It couldn’t have come at a better time, with the bankholiday weekend starting, thanks to Monday being a public holiday in the whole of Andalucia, as the 28th of February is El Día de Andalucía.
Hotel occupation for the province is calculated at 71% based on hotel bookings, according to the Federación Provincial de Empresas de Hostelería y Turismo. Most of the visitors are heading here from other parts of Andalucia.
Whilst the average for the province as a whole stands at that figure, hotel occupation in the Sierra Nevada is calculated at 85%, thanks to its 60 kilometres of skiable Spring Snow: spring conditions describe a variety of melting snow surfaces, including mushy powder or granular snow, which refreeze at night.
