Two men held up a bank in Salobreña at 09.00h this morning. The targeted bank is on Avenida Federico García Lorca.
The robbers threatened staff with a large knife.
At the moment the Guardia Civil have the town cordoned off to prevent the two robbers escaping.
Update: The bank was Unicaja. One source reports that they were two young men involved, one wearing a crash helmet and the other a ski mask, and that they made off on a small motorbike. It also appears that the robbers ‘relieved’ a customer of several hundred euros.
Despite both the Guardia Civil and the Policía Local blocking all the exit points from Salobreña, the culprits seemed to have escaped the net.
Readers will remember that in October last year, in this same street, another bank was held up, but that time there was only one robber involved, getting away with 600 euros.
