You won't get arrested for not wearing a mask when you enter an interior public space, but you will if you kick a policeman, which is what happened to one man.

GRA Polica Local Patrol CarIt was in a cafeteria on Gran Vía de Colón around 09.15h on the 17th of this month when a man walked into to order a coffee. He wasn’t wearing a mask and when asked to put one on by a waitress, he instead berated this member of staff.

Amongst the other customers in the cafeteria were two municipal policemen, one of whom decided to intervene to inform the man that there exists the obligation to wear a mask in public, interior spaces and asked him to put one on.

However, the man reacted violently and the police had to restrain him and escort him outside. He didn’t go quietly but kicked and thumped the officers, telling them that they were Nazis.

Under normal circumstances the refusal to wear a mask in interior spaces, such as shops, cafeterias etc could lead to a fine but in the case of this man, he physically attacked police officers in the course of their duty so he was arrested, charged and will appear before a magistrate and could face a prison sentence.
