The ruling coalition in Almuñécar has accused the main opposition party, the CA (Benavides) of using 'friendly' building companies to stop the market project.
According to Partido Popular, Más Almuñécar and Ciudadanos, the CA is blocking other companies from opting for the construction contract to build the new municipal market.
How? Construcciones Cotobro S.L. has lodged an appeal against the Administrative Tender Specifications (Pliego Administrativo de la Licitación).
The coaltion claim that the Administrator for the said company is Jesús Eduardo Ruiz Cobos, who is an active member of Convergencia Andaluza and has been on electoral lists for the party.
They go on to claim that there are paragraph’s in the document presented by Construcciones Cotobro S.L. that read word-for-word like the objections submitted by Convergencia Andaluza at the Plenary Meeting of the Town Council on the 28th of October.
Editorial Comment: Benavides made such a bad job at building the municipal market building in the early 80s, by allegedly cutting corners and using inferior materials, that within 20 years it was falling apart. Then along comes the present Mayor who sneakily demolished the old building during the height of the lockdown, taking advantage that nobody could go out and protest against it.
Let us not forget, either, the whole shabby business of the Mayor closing the underground car park because it was “dangerous” but keeping the market above it operative… because it evidently wasn’t dangerous (you can’t have it both ways).
Who could blame people for concluding that our politicians are seemingly self-serving, strangers to the truth with Olympic Golds in hypocrisy?

interesting video. thank you and very disturbing, i would agree with you, but dont you feel the real issue, in this video, was not electric cars but that a government permits such mining and use of children. we must also not ignore that cobalt is used in multiple products that you and your family already use such as dyes, tools, the rubber in your car tyres, paint, bio agricultural products. all in all, misleading journalism. personally i havent owned a car since 2008
@Paul
At what cost to children in Africa with electric car batteries?
“Child labour used to make batteries for Electric Cars in Cobalt mines”
Why don’t the climate change protesters and the United Nations highlight this important fact,
about the rights of children?

Can someone tell me about the opportunity/process for comment by the public on such a project as this.
I am really interested in whether the new market will have solar panels and utilize recyled water.
The street light replacement is ok but every public building especially schools should have solar and excess electricity credits/sales should help reduce taxes or provide improvements and services to the community.
Furthermore, where are the electric car charging points around town…..will the new market have charging ports in the new underground parking?
