There was a fire in a roast-chicken establishment on Avenida Juan Pablo II in Granada - I wonder if the chickens noticed - karma?
The premises is more or less in front of Trauma (Hospital Virgen de las Nieves) and the fire broke out around eleven yesterday morning.
Apparently the extractor caught fire and the flames spread to the deep fryer, which caused considerable, dense smoke and a round of ghostly applause from the fowl present.
The roast-chicken shop was open at the time and the staff were busily preparing the food. Luckily, an off-duty fireman (yes, it was a male fire ‘person,’ so the politically rancid can rest easy) was passing by at that moment and alerted his colleagues at the Parque Norte fire station.
Hopefully, the fire damage was minimal and they can soon be back in business and no doubt the new extractor will be cleaned more regularly so that smoked chicken (slightly startled) can come off the menu.
