Elderly, Drunk and Marooned

An 82-year-old man, seriously over the limit, collided with a raised roundabout in Vélez-Málaga. Fortunately he was only slightly hurt.

The accident took place on Avenida Vivar Téllez in the said coastal town on Thursday the 18th of last month around 19.00h.

The police soon arrived and breathalysed the driver and found him with double the limit permitted (0.49mg/L air)

The vehicle, a BMW X5, ended up with the front end on the garden area of the roundabout and the back wheels barely touching the road – from appearances the driver just drove straight ahead instead of negotiating the junction.

The driver also managed to wipe out traffic signs, however, he came off lightly considering the impact. Nobody else was injured during Evil Canevil attempt to vault the roundabout.

A tow truck later removed the car from its pedestal and took it to the municipal police compound.
