You constantly hear about the Guardia Civil confiscating hashish but it is not often that you hear of thieves confiscating the Guardia's Hash.
The Guardia Civil had 700 kilos of hashish stolen from their evidence store during the first week of last month. The police had been keeping it in a warehouse provided by the Town Hall of Arroyomolinos, in the south of the autonomous region of Madrid. This was supposed to be a temporary arrangement whilst the police completed the necessary paperwork for the law courts. to
The Town Hall lent this municipal storage facility on the condition that the Guardia Civil were to provide the security arrangements. Consequently, the police installed CCTV. However, the thieves gained entrance in the early hours of one morning without anybody seeing it on the security cameras monitors.
The police had only taken custody of the drugs a few days before, which they had come across hidden in a lorry that they had intercepted on the A-5.
The Guardia Civil HQ in Madrid has opened an investigation into the burglary and to arrest those responsible
Editorial comment: if the police no longer have the evidence against the lorry driver… then there is no case? Oops!
