Winter is getting closer because the first snow on the Sierra Nevada has fallen, dusting the summit with fine, ephemeral snow.
As dawn came this morning, between low clouds, you could glimpse the snow from the Costa Tropical. Meanwhile, up at the ski station the company that runs it, Cetursa, published a video on social media.
Really, if it were not for the fact that it is the first snowfall on Sierra Nevada this autumn, it would be nothing to write home about, but as it is, it serves as a herald for the skiing season to come.
There is a chance that more light snow might fall during the night, but there is certainly no indication that you should fish out your skiing gear yet.
Cetursa still hasn’t made known when the skiing season will commence – last year it was around the middle of December, but we can only hope that this drought breaks definitively and covers the slopes with the snow coverage that they deserve!
