Desperate people do tremendously dangerous things, like hanging onto the landing gear of a plane taking off from Kabul... or hiding in the turbine area of a ferry engine.
You know about the former but perhaps not about the latter, which occured on the FRS, Melilla-Motril ferry and involved four stowaways hoping to reach the Promised Land; i.e. Spain, the gate way to Europe.
The Guardia Civil described their hiding place as “very dangerous had the engines been started up.”
The four young men were lucky to be discovered, therefore, by the Guardia Civil based in Melilla upon a routine inspection prior to the ferry’s departure.
