The body of a man was discovered by a diver off a beach in the Parque Natural de Cabo de Gata-Níjar yesterday morning.
The diver, once back on land, alerted the 112, emergency call centre just before midday to say that he had found the body trapped amongst rocks whilst he had been out diving.
The call centre despatched the Guardia Civil, and ambulance, the Spanish Red Cross, as well as the Policía Local and Protección Civil, which seems quite a lot for one body, admittedly.
In the end the Guardia Civil brought in their specialist diver unit, the Grupo de Especialistas en Actividades Subacuáticas (GEAS) who retrieved the body of a man (no further details are available) and transferred it to the Marina de San José where a hearse was waiting to take it to the morgue for an autopsy.
