SPN Manacor SuperinfecterEven after being asked by his work companions to go home he continued to remain in the office, coughing and sneezing, telling them, “I’m going to infect you all.” And he did; 22 people, eight of them directly and 14 indirectly.

The police investigation began at the end of January after receiving news of cases of Covid in a well known, fastfood establishment in Manacor where one worker had allegedly infected others knowingly.

The arrested man began to show symptoms of infection days before the cluster of cases emerged all in this work area. His co-workers noticed them and urged him to go home, which he refused.

After work he went round to the local medical centre and took a PCR because the symptoms were worsening. Even so, and still pending the results, he went to his local gym and returned to work next day.

Everybody was shocked to see him the next day at work, as he was running a 40ºC fever. His boss told him to go home, which he refused.

At the end of that same working day, he received the results of his PCR, which read positive. This meant that all his companions had to have PCRs, five of whom gave positive readings and had consequently infected their family members. In the gymnasium another three people were infected, who also infected family members bringing the total number of people infected, directly or indirectly by this person to 22.

Fortunately, none of them had to be hospitalised. As for the arrested man, he appeared before the judge and was released without bail pending trial.
