A young man on an electric scooter was intercepted on a main road between towns (which is forbidden) within the municipality of Moaña (Pontevedra, Galica).
The 26-year-old was pulled over at four in the afternoon and when told that he shouldn’t be out on this mobility device, he explained that he had lost his driving licence, which was why he was using it.
The Guardia Civil officers decided to do a routine breathalyser and drugs test, which gave a positive reading for the latter.
He was immediately given a 1,000-euro fine and the electric scooter was confiscated, to boot – he was given a lift home, though.
The Guardia Civil reminds users of these mobility devices that one cannot use them on main roads, autovias and main thoroughfares. Neither can they be used in underground passes, pedestrian pavements or pedestrian areas (unless permitted within municipal bylaws).
