The road leading up from Peña Parda in La Herradura towards Carmens de Mar has received some TLC from the Town Hall.
The work consists of replacing stone barriers running behind Edificio Rosa Náutica, some of which have deteriorated considerably.
These old-style, stone, crashbarriers (known as quitamiedos or ‘fear removers’) are there to stop vehicles leaving the road on that side and plunging down the steep embankment behind the said building.
The Councillor for Maintenance, Beatriz González, visited the work along a stretch of 175 metres together with the First Councillor for the village,Juan José Ruiz Joya.
“The improvement to the roadside safety structure has a budget of 30,165 euros,” explained the First Councillor, adding, “the works contract was awarded to the local construction company, Chopi based in La Herradura.”
