An Almuñécar opposition party, the IU, has denounced the "abandoned state of the lorry park," which runs parallel with the N-340 up to the river.
The Unidas Podemos Councillor, Francisco Fernández, considers that it looks like a scrapyard with all kinds of vehicles that you might find in one. He says that it is “disgusting to behold,” and surrounded by a shameful excuse for a fence.
The UP also criticises the fact that publicly owned land is allowed to be used by private vehicles with no seeming control.
Unidas Podemos points out that they provided a suggestion to be included in the future Plan de Urbanismo, proposing that the lorry park be removed from this area of land and moved to an area near the exit of the autovía. Councillor Fernández says that the proposed spot has an area of 20,000 sq/m. They say that it is not only large enough to function as a lorry park but there is also room for a workshop. Furthermore, it is next to a bus-stop.
The area in question is near the N-340 roundabout that connects with the A-7 in Taramay, situated behind the large fruit warehouse, Herco Frut.
