The Guardia Civil and Policía Local check points netted ten residents from inland Granada trying to reach the coast last weekend, and that was just Motril.
Five were from the city attempting to spend the weekend in their holiday homes, who were stopped in the Playa Granada area on Friday and Saturday.
The other five were nabbed on the Al Campo roundabout and were from other towns on the Costa Tropical or from villages situated not far inland – they were all trying to go shopping there and the other business in the nearby shopping centre.
As for the bars and chiringuitos on the coast most were open to catch what trade there was but the weather didn’t help. Even so, most found that it was worth opening.
