Beach Bars Reluctance

SAL Chiringuito El MolinoI took a trip along the Salobreña beach front yesterday and saw that despite now being able to open, virtually all of the chiringuitos remained closed.

The exception was Chiringuito El Molino where I spoke with Rocío, who explained that they had decided to open, even with the limitations imposed.

One of the customers there was Mónica who runs the Pizzería Bocateria Ñam-Ñam, right down the other end of the beach, at the Peñon end.

She told me that they were preparing to open on Thursday. When I asked her why she is going to reopen she explained that as she has low, staff costs they can just about afford to – at least with the doors open to customers some money will come in to help pay running bills.

It seems that other businesses down on the Salobreña beach road will also reopen later in the week. Until then, for a spot of breakfast or lunch then Chiringuito El Molino is the place to go if you want to eat on the beach. And, of course, if you fancy a pizza, you can’t go far wrong with popping along to Ñam-Ñam, either!

Editorial note: neither business advertises with us so this is all about helping out where we can local businesses who could all do with our collective solidarity.
