An individual was arrested in Almuñécar for attempting to raid an ATM (bank cash machine) on the 21st of August.
The 36-year-old man has a criminal record and is also suspected of a minor, theft offence; two crash helmets.
It was the bank manager of the affected branch that reported that somebody had attempted to force open the ATM causing 2,400 euros in damage to the machine.
The first thing that the local Guardia Civil did was to examine the CCTV footage and were not surprised to see who was ‘at work’ on the ATM. They had arrested him only the previous month, and it wasn’t exactly for ‘stealing from the rich to give to the poor.’
The next step was to actually lay hands on him but before they could a man reported that on the 1st of this month somebody had forced open the back box on his motorbike and stolen two helmets – it turned out that the same man was suspected of both crimes.
When they did finally find him, they brought him before the duty magistrate charged with both offences.
