The first weekend of August saw beaches in Almuñécar and Motril temporarily closed due to overcrowding.
The Almuñécar Policía Local had to close the access to Playa de San Cristóbal after the beach-auxilaries belonging to the Junta called them in.
Also temporarily closed until the numbers abaited were Playa Chinasol, Playa Calabajío and Playa Pozuelo (the last two both in Taramay of Almuñécar.
In Motril, Playa Granada suffered several mini closures throughout Sunday.
This first weekend of August saw temperatures over 30ºC bringing people beginning their summer holidays in their droves to bath in the sea but even so Saturday passed along the coast without having to close beaches, as all of these closures occurred on Sunday.
It appears that Salobreña had no such problems with overcrowding, not because the beaches were not full – they most certainly were – but because the limit was never reached.
