Drug-Loaded Lorry Intercepted

MOT Lorry Drugs BustA control point on the A-7 above Motril on Wednesday stopped a lorry carrying 32 packages of hashish amounting to over a tonne in weight. The street value of the drug is estimated at 5,000,000 euros.

Furthermore, the Guardia Civil not only found the drug consignment but also 865,000 euros, divided between several raffia bags, in bundles of notes wrapped up in Clingfilm.

As the Spanish driver from Sanlúcar de Barrameda (Cádiz) could not provide evidence (documents) pertaining to its providence; i.e., where the blighter got it, the money was placed in a judicial bank account until somebody claims it. Not a good idea… However, as it was confiscated alongside a tonne of hashish it will more likely be claimed by the State to be used for anti-drug operations.

This cargo, which represents the biggest bust so far this year, was on its way to Málaga, after having been landed somewhere on the Almería coastline.

No mention was made in the Guardia Civil press release, on which this article is based, concerning what happened to the lorry, although the vehicle will be a lead to who was behind the shipment.
