Otívar Hosed Down by Infoca

ALM Otivar DisinfectedIt was Otívar’s turn again for the street-disinfection treatment but this time by Infoca personnel; the first time it was carried out by the military.

The Mayor, Francisco Robles, clarified that this action was not the result of cases being discovered in the village – it was purely a preventative operation. Between the Mayor, the chemist, Luz María and the doctor, Don Juan, they have it pretty much tied down regarding the health of the thousand inhabitants during this health crisis.

Otívar, however, is a village with a large number of people over 70-years old (20% of the population) so it has a large proportion of the high-risk, age group.

Eleven Infoca personnel using seven vehicles sprayed down the village, which is no easy task given its winding streets and endless flights of steps, as it is set on a hillside. The tanker stayed on the main road, where the doctor’s surgery is whilst a pick up went down into the Plaza de la Era. Going down further along Calle Real, if you are not used to it, is a bit hairy in a car, which is why another vehicle was loaded with barrels of disinfectant to fill the individual backpack sprayers for the narrower streets was left parked in the Era.

It took around two hours to complete the task and no lives were lost amongst the Infoca crews nor were any of them taken hostage for a later human sacrifice.

After that, the Infoca personnel set off for Mólvizar… where they might not be so lucky… Just saying!
