Walking Fido Fine

GRA Walking Dog DodgeThings are looking a little grimmer for Dodging with Dogs; i.e., using walking your dog as an excuse to break the quarantine in the city of Granada.

The Councillor for Citizen Safety, César Díaz, pointed out that people with the excuse of walking a dog have been found with their panting quadruped on the other side of the city to where they live.

“One thing is to take your dog out so it can do its business, and quite another to use it as an excuse for wandering around the city,” he said, adding, “Think of the medical personnel who are making tremendous sacrifices and at no little risk to defend our health, whilst others have only been asked to do their part by simply staying at home.”

But in some cases calling on people to be responsible doesn’t work so the Policía Local have been authorised to identify anybody walking a dog to make sure that they are complying strictly with the rules and those who are caught bending them could face anything up to a fine of 30,000 euros – and it won’t only be your dog having bowel movements if you land a fine like that…
