Thanks to several officers from the Policía Nacional in Motril it was possible to prevent a 90-year-old man from killing himself.
Surprisingly, the elderly man had managed to climb up five metres in height, clambering up the side of a high-tension pylon along the Ronda de Levante.
When the police arrived, there was already a person there, trying to talk him down. The man was very agitated and was threatening to throw himself off but two officers managed to climb up behind him whilst another two officers kept his attention on them on the ground by reasoning with him.
The two officers behind him managed to grab him by his clothing and stop him from letting go whilst the others climbed up, too, to bring him down to where medical personnel were waiting to attend to him.
He was taken to the local hospital, accompanied by his daughter, who had been contacted and alerted to the situation.
