Motril Port is going to build a new Guardia Civil post in the area of the Azucenas Dock this year.

This new building will house both the maritime branch, as well as the Guardia Civil Fiscal Department, which were in separate buildings before owing to space shortage.

The arrangement will be similar to what the Policía Nacional has in the port, which was inaugurated a couple of months ago.

The Chairman of Motril Port, José García Fuentes, has confirmed that work will begin this year with a budget of 1.2m euros. Three construction companies put in bids, each with their own project. Now the Port Authorities will have to choose which.

But Motril Port has more plans for 2020 with projects costing a total of 7.6m euros, including improving passenger safety and sustainable environment works (whatever that is).
