The Guardia Civil maritime service has located the body of the paraglider that came down in the sea off Castell de Ferro Thursday afternoon.
The victim, a 42-year-old Swiss man, landed in the sea off Castell de Ferro beach, which was witnessed by two German citizens (conflicting reports say they were Swiss), who jumped from their pedalo into the water to help him but when they reached the wing (canopy) there was no sign of him.
The emergency number 112 received an alert around 14.30h and a Guardia Civil launch was despatched, arriving in time to pull the two Germans out of the water.
The search continued until nightfall and then resumed at first light, yesterday, this time with members of the GEAS (Guardia Civil divers) based in Almería, as well as a Salvamento Marítimo helicopter.
The body was finally found just after 11.30h that morning and taken to Motril Port.
