The Central Government has finally approved the modifications to the Nerja, sewage-disposal plant, which means that work can recommence.
One thing is a ‘green light’ and quite another is work will actually begin again – much less, how long it will take. After all, work on the treatment plant is running three years behind schedule
At present, 90% of the work has been completed but the project needed a modification costing around 2,000,000 euros. That price tag comes on top of the original budget of 23.24m euros.
The present Mayor, José Alberto Armijo, claimed that they were just waiting for the appropriate ministry to provide the funds but within “a few days” the contract would be awarded and the work, once commenced, would last eight months.
The Provincial Delegate for the Central Goverment, however, refused to be tied down to dates, etc.
