Anti-Hail Rockets Destroyed

AND Cohetes-antigranizo OnLThe Guardia Civil in Ciudad Real were surprised to find a hoard of anti-hail rockets nestling in somebody’s house after the cleaner had found them.

We’re not talking about something along the lines of ‘light-the-blue-touch-paper’ kind but rather something that would not look out of place on the wing pylons of a fighter jet.

The Guardia Civil bomb-disposal team were pushed through the door by saner policemen and it was announced that the arsenal were Cohetes Granífugos modelo CETME; rockets that when fired into storm clouds prevent larger hailstones forming and damaging crops – that’s the theory.

Trouble is, their use is forbidden here in Spain, because they are dangerous to store and also to use when the operator is not properly trained for their use.

Anyway the bomb-disposal team carted them off to a quarry and destroyed them… it wasn’t mentioned if it rained afterwards.
