Starting last weekend, the lifeguards are on duty along Salobreña beaches. The beaches have also been raked and levelled.

The private company Serviola was hired for the task with coverage lasting until the 15th of September

As for the cleaning of the beach, the Town Hall has decided to manage the task itself instead of hiring a private company, Consequently, it has directly employed 16 workers, who will be working morning and afternoon shifts, as well as maintaining the beach toilets.

According to the councillor in charge, Gabrial Alonso, this will save the Town Hall money.

As was the case last year, the Salobreña, High-Sea Fleet (of one) will be out skimming the water of floating rubbish and unmentionables with the four Marines, armed with rakes, targeting the sand along waters’ edge.

The lifeguards, by the way, will be working from their five different perches (chair-towers), spaced out along the beaches either side of El Peñon. They will be backed by the Protección Civil volunteers, as well.
