A large waterproof parcel containing drugs appeared on the Salobreña beach, La Charca, yesterday morning.

The discovery was made by a beachgoer around half nine in the morning, who immediately contacted the Policía Local.

They sent a patrol down, who confirmed that the large package did in fact contain narcotics, so they handed it over to the Guardia Civil.

Editorial comment: could have saved time by contacting the Guardia Civil directly, mind, because the municipal police are basically there to help schoolchildren cross the road and dish out fines to badly parked car owners. Why they carry guns is a complete mystery…. sorry, just woken up from a siesta…
