Almuñécar Mayor, Trinidad Herrera, has sent damning evidence concerning ex-Mayor Juan Carlos Benavides to the Anti-Corruption department in Madrid.

The Town Council, governed by the Partido Popular and Más Almuñécar, pushed through a motion in a Plenary Meeting in order obtain backing to do this.

The package containing a 12-age report back by 99 documents was sent to Madrid on the 21st of January which indicate that development companies wishing to obtain licences in Almuñécar had to take out advertising on the municipal TV back in 2005 at the height of the building boom.

At the time the son of Sr. Benavides was the head of this local TV channel: Onda Tropical. S. A., which was owned by person “close to the Mayor’s party,” according to documents that have been sent off to the anti-graft investigators.
