The Management of Hospital Santa Ana announced that the hospital will have a new wing in 2020 that will do away with the 3-bed rooms.
Hospital Manager, Francisco Pérez, listed a number of upcoming projects not only for the hospital itself, but also for the medical centres on Costa Tropical.
The first was this new building within the hospital complex, wish should be finished next year, thanks to a four-million budget. This new space will provide 24 extra hospital beds to the existing 184.
The reason that a whole new building or wing will only increase the number of beds by 24 is that beds will be moved out of 3-bed rooms, (converting them in 2-bed) rooms into the new wing. In fact, some of the existing 2-bed rooms will be turned into single-occupant ones.
The 3,000 sq/m new structure will have all the radiology services moved into it. Furthermore the Servicios Salud Pública will also be moved from one of the medical centres into the new structure.
Lastly, the motril medical centres will also have double glazing installed to improve their energy efficiency.
