Thursday night saw Avenida de Salobreña in Motril brought to a halt after a woman was knocked over opposite Restaurante Tranquera.
It was 23.00h and as on most summer evenings, the streets were thronged with residents out strolling in the cooler night air, so there was no shortage of eye witnesses.
The accident involved the female pedestrian who had been using a zebra crossing and a moped driven by a pizza-delivery employee. Both people involved were described as ‘young’ by bystanders and according to some of them, it was the rider that suffered greater injuries.
The police and an ambulance were soon on the scene and whilst the former controlled the traffic, and the latter took both the injured persons to the A&E at Hospital Santa Ana.
