Motril Traffic Diversions

Motril Varadero FiestasMonday the 16th will see the Virgen del Carmen processions in Motril, which will mean that certain roads will be closed to traffic. Don’t forget that they also have the fair going down there!

The Councillor for Citizen Safety, María Ángeles Escámez, explained that Monday afternoon the Varadero (port) area will have restricted access and recommends that you take public transport rather than the car if you want to see the procession, which starts on land and concludes on the water.

The affected roads are the port road near the Alsa garage next to the N-340 (that’s the port junction from the main road, and access to the Barrio El Varadero from the Fire Station down).

Traffic instead will be diverted down the Rambla de las Brujas, Carretera de la Celulosa and the Camino del Pelaíllo.

Just to make driving around Motril more fun, please remember that during the whole of Monday they will be re-tarmacking the road from the Al Campo roundabout up to the new junction just past the new Burger King. Consequently, you will only be able to enter Motril that way – if you want to exit Motril you will have to do it via Ronda Sur.
