The area hospital, Hospital Santa Ana, has received a 667,000-euro boost from the Junta de Andalucia for improving several departments in the building.
One of the main improvements will be made in Traumatología, but the laboratories and kitchens will also be included in the work.
The aims behind the improvements are better accessibility, privacy, comfort, quality and safety.
The visiting Health Delegate from the Junta, Sr. Aquilino Alonso, said that the aim was to turn the hospital into a “hospital of the future,”
The lion’s share of the budget, 340,000 euros, goes on the 609 sq/m of the Orthopaedics wing (Trauma): the 3-patient rooms will disappear to make room for twelve double rooms. The bathrooms will be enlarged and the furniture changed.
The laboratory renovations will be carried out by the Unidad de Gestión Clínica de Laboratorios, (97.660 euros), with an extension to the Bio-Chemistry Area and giving an IT system that will guarantee the traceability of the pre-analysis and analysis processes.
Furthermore, there will be new facilities for the Blood Bank and Haematology in general, as well as fertility, doctor surgeries.
Lastly, the kitchens: 230,000 euros are to be spent on improving the 350 sq/m of kitchen space, with new refrigeration facilities
