Hiking in Troglodyte Country

ALM Hiking GaleraAlmuñécar hikers will be exploring the pan-handle of the province; i.e., Baza/Guadix, (Altiplano de Granada) this Sunday, the 12th – troglodyte country!

This is the area where some of the oldest fossils can be found from the first settlers in Europe, as well as the Bronze Age, the Neolithic and Roman eras.

You will have heard of the Almería desert but there is also one up there, split by the Río Galera leaving a trail of woodlands and vegetation along its banks.

Hikers will visit the village of Castillejar, where two rivers join, giving such a contrast of landscapes.
