Playa Poniente in Motril has always been a problem as far as flooding goes; as soon as there is a gale, the sea comes in a swallows it up.

Monday the 21st was no exception, as you can see from this video from the Ideal newspaper website.

The chiringuito is completely surrounded by sea water, so much so that it looks like a tiny island.

Motril Port has also suffered disruption due to the gale, because the Motril-Melilla ferry had to be cancelled because of the difficulty in actually getting into the port.
