Sunday night (29/01) saw an accident involving a car falling into a hole that had opened up in the road surface above the Barranco de la Brujas in Motril.
The barranco in the Ronda de Poniente area runs underground, specifically next to Calle Pablo Coronado – the water course has been paved over to allow access to garages.
The hole opened up right in front of the driver’s house precisely as he was manoeuvring to enter his garage.
According to the Town Hall, municipal surveyors are investigating why the paved surface gave way. One theory that they are looking into is that a broken pipe below may have weakened the structure.
