As the post has a total staff of eight policemen; it means half of them were arrested, leaving the post seriously undermanned.
The arrests took place on the morning of Monday the 2nd of January with a large detachment of Guardia Civil anti-drugs policemen bursting into the police station, causing more than a few raised eyebrows amongst town residents.
The police operation actually netted seven suspects, four whom were the said policemen. The other three were residents of this small riverside town.
The anti-drugs operation also confiscated three large RIBs. The operation remains ongoing and further arrests are not ruled out.
