Two people in Granada, a father and his daughter, were run over by a bus, trying to escape from the clutches of a mugger.
The mugger, who had set upon the victims as the father was taking money out of an ATM (cashpoint), was later captured by an off-duty national policeman on holiday in the city.
The victims, who are Colombian residents in the said city, were using a cashpoint in the Plaza del Carmen at 22.30h, Wednesday the 10th, when the 47-year-old Spaniard tried to mug them, according to the police report.
A struggle ensued during which the two victims were literally pushed off the pavement. The father tried to get his 10-year-old daughter to escape, holding back the mugger. The highly upset girl crossed the road without looking only to be hit by a bus.
The 42-year-old father, who had also stumbled out into the road in the struggle was hit by the same bus; such was the impact that his body broke the windscreen.
Both victims were treated first in the ambulance before being taken to the PTS hospital. They had head injuries and were initially in the ICU before being moved to a hospital ward.
