The two suspects, aged 23 and 27, are both Almuñécar residents.
There were three victims all told, who had their mobile phones and cash stolen between the night of the 27th and the early morning of the 28th of December last year.
The first mugging took place when the two men allegedly stopped a group of friends, relieving two of them of their phones and wallets. Later that same night they reportedly waylaid their next victim just after he had withdrawn money from a cash point (ATM). They took the ten euros he had just withdrawn, his bank card and ID card.
Both incidents were reported, separately, to the Guardia Civil and basing their investigations on the descriptions given by all the victims deduced that the same persons were responsible for both muggings.
The police then showed the victims a series of mug shots (police-file photos) and they quickly identified who had attacked them.
The two suspects were finally located and arrested yesterday, the 4th of January.
According to the police, both men admitted to having carried out the muggings (with their lawyers present) and handed over the stolen phones , wallets and their contents… minus the stolen cash.
