The Mayor of Almuñécar, Trinidad Herrera, will have to appear before a judge on the 2nd of February, 2016 as the accused party, in the Mercado Municipal Case.

The Mayor has been taken to court by Hermanos Garcia, who held the lease of the municipal-market underground car park. They accuse her of “administrative prevarication” by not putting into motion accords approved in the Plenary Meeting on the 10th of June 2014 which would have lifted the enforced halt to the work being carried out there.

Consequently, the company is suing the Town Hall, demanding the return of almost ten-million euros (9,998,471.56) deposit, plus all the money they have spent on the premises and all other expenses incurred.
