Soon after the tragic death of an English woman who lost her life whilst bungee jumping from a bridge near Lanjaron, a 17-year-old Dutch girl was killed on a jump from a bridge in the north of Spain.
The accident, which occurred around 20.30h on Monday the 11th, took place in Cabezón de la Sal in Cantabria, on the northern coast of Spain. The A-8 motorway bridge is known as Cedeja, Virgen de la Peña.
It appears that there was a language mix up and when the monitor called to her saying, “No jump, it is important, no jump,” she understood, “Now jump,” so she did, but her bungee cord was still not attached to the safety ropes, hence the monitor’s instructions.
The girl plummeted to the dry riverbed 32 metres below.
The jump group was made up of 13 teenage Belgians and Netherlanders and five monitors.
