Once again the Guardia Civil port police in Motril have intercepted a stolen vehicle, this time on the 14th of June.
Two men, an Italian and a Moroccan, were preparing to drive ‘their’ car onto the Melilla ferry, and although all their paperwork seemed to be in order, the policemen had a hunch that something was amiss, so they stopped the car boarding and contacted the Italian authorities.
It turned out that the car was a hire car – or better said, a leasing vehicle – that had ‘disappeared’ off the radar.
Both men were remanded in custody and the car confiscated pending the true owners recovering it.
