Salobreña will be celebrating the San Juan fiestas from Friday the 19th till Monday the 24th, with plenty of activities thrown in.

The Councillor for Fiestas (sounds like great job) Mª José García, explained that there would be kayak fishing; i.e., angling from a kayak for the 9th year running – must be getting short of fish, surely?

There will also be, for the 2nd year running, a classical motorbike meet and the 5th annual Alpujarreña cured-ham cutters convention.

There will be fiesta lighting put up all over the place and plenty of activities for kids – just somebody keep them away from the ham cutters!

Did we mention the Gymkhana in the Parque del Fuente or the kiddies’ workshops in the Plaza del Mercado?

Dance bands, the village brass band, DJ’s doing their noisy stuff and even a Hawaiian party, not to mention religious processions!

It’s got it all, so make sure you pop over and enjoy yourselves!
