The Mayor of Salobreña has announced that he has asked for the help of the Junta and Central Government to repair the beachfront damage.

He says that the Town Hall simply does not have the money to repair the damage caused by gale-force winds during the first weekend of February, on the eastern end of the paseo marítimo.

Such was the force of the waves coming up over the beach in Salobreña that the beach road had to be closed to traffic during most of Saturday the 31st of January, in front of Salomar 2000.

Still within the municipality of Salobreña, in La Caleta, a kiosk was destroyed. Water also poured into the Lavadero area, covering the small square completely.

But, of course, not only Salobreña has suffered beach-front damage caused by powerful waves, as La Herradura and Almuñécar have also reported damage.
