Three illegal immigrants were arrested overnight in Torrenueva.

Police responded to a call from a local who reported that a boat containing five or six people had managed to reach the beach in the area of the large rock at the eastern end of the town (Peñon de Jolúcar).

The National Police responded and managed to detain three people who are believed to be from Maghreb. Police believe that at least two others managed to elude them.

The immigrants were taken to the Motril National Police station, where they were checked over by the Red Cross. They will remain detained until such time as they are repatriated to their country of origin. All are adults and said to be in good health.
