The police have arrested three men, aged aged in their early 20’s, from Armilla, suspected of carrying out a mugging on the 15th of August. The mugging took place on the Paseo del Altillo.
The victim, a young woman, had her handbag yanked from her shoulder as she walked along paseo at three in the morning when the town was crammed full of tourists. Everybody knows that during the summer fiestas there are more people out walking at three in the morning than at three in the afternoon.
The suspects approached the young woman and her friend and asked for a light, they answered that they didn’t smoke. The girls turned to go and one of the men asked for a light again and the victim, distracted, was suddenly attacked from behind by the second man, who snatched the victim’s bag.
The woman reported the incident to the Policía Local, who called the Guardia Civil, who tracked down the men trying to leave the town via the Otívar road.
They stopped the car and found the bag. The woman later confirmed that it was hers as well as identifying the assailants.
