The Motril Court has sentenced a man to 3-years in prison for trying to smuggle drugs into Spain. The vehicle was stopped at the Port of Motril and found to have a false bottom, which contained 338 kilograms of hashish.
Our Canabis Car Courier was also ordered to pay a fine of one million euros, and if that was not possible the fine would be replaced by a further month behind bars.
The vehicle was stopped in a routine check at the port by the National Police, who decided there was something fishy about the vehicle and therefore to give it a jolly good search. The digging around rewarded the officers with 399 packages of cannabis resin hidden in a false bottom under the seats and boot of the car.
The said 338 kgs of cannabis would have had a street value of about 530,000 euros.
