You have a blazing row with your partner, you say things that you later regret… and regret one couple certainly did, because they both ended up arrested.
A young couple started off squabbling over the rent and ended up mutually accusing each other of peddling drugs – the police were delighted to hear about it and gratefully arrested them. On a positive note, neither has to pay rent as they are both in prison.
All this, by the way, happened in Velez-Málaga, late one evening when the police received a call from a concerned neighbour to say that there was a heated argument going on next door. A patrol car was sent round.
The police officers called at the door and it was opened by a rather annoyed looking young woman. She explained that her boyfriend wouldn’t let her leave the flat whilst she owed her part of the rent; some 500 euros.
The police identified both of them; she was 23 and he was 29 and both Spanish. The police tried to mediate in the dispute whilst at the same time trying to calm them both down, but to no avail. So far, a routine call-out, but things soon changed.
According to the police, the young woman told them to have a look inside her boyfriend’s backpack. She said he was peddled drugs. She also told them that he kept marihuana in sealed jam jars at his parents’ house, which was probably not the best way of cementing a positive relationship with her in-laws, admittedly.
The boyfriend, who had probably picked his lower jaw up off the floor, countered by saying that it was her; not him, that peddled drugs and the stash was hers. He only admitted to accompanying her when she was out trying to sell her wares, for her safety.
To back up his claim, he said that she had 3,000 euros stashed away in the flat from these sales. However, his position was considerably weakened when they caught him trying to throw precision weighing scales out of the window.
At this point the police considered that it would be a good idea to search the whole of the flat, soon coming across 33 grams of cocaine and 3,230 euros in cash, so they read the couples their rights and marched them off.
The moral of the story is, a seriously miffed woman doesn’t take prisoners… unfortunately, the police do.
